Confusing Vocabulary

Matty though a little slow in learning to walk has been picking up new words fast and furious. Though it can be both exasperating and comical when he gets some of the words mixed up or mispronounces...

Us: Close the door
Matty: Off

Us: Turn off the tap
Matty: Gone

Us: Balloon
Matty: Bar-Bar (translation - bubble)

(He used to say "ber" for balloon... but ever since he was introduced to bubble, anything that is round and floats is a "bar-bar".)

Matty: Car-Car
Us: Chair
Matty: Car-Car

(Anything that has wheels and move is generalised as "car-car".)

Matty: Dare-Dare

Us: Truck
Matty: Gar-bi-Gar (translation - garbage truck)

(Any vehicle that is large and has a big storage at the back is a "garbage truck".)

Us: Watch
Matty: Clock

(Anything the can tell the time is a "clock" whether you hang on the wall or wear it on the wrist.)

Matty: Tat-tee
