To Kill A Mocking Bird

Being woke up by a sudden cry is nothing strange to Mummy ever since Matty came into our lives... but for the last 2 weeks other than Matty's cries, I have been constantly stirred in the wee hours of the morning by a different type of cry.

We got ourselves a new neighbour who likes to sing at some unearthly hour. A new (irritating) bird just moved into the park next to our house not too long ago. We are guessing it could be a magpie going by the sound it makes. Just a wild guess though cos we learned how a magpie sounds like from one of Matty's Hi-5 VCD. The stupid bird (did I mention irritating too!) starts chirping as early as 4.30 in the morning. Not only is the singing loud... it echoes due to the silence around the neighbourhood (obviously... because most people in their right mind will not be up at such a crazy hour). As it is... Mummy is facing a sleep deprivation crisis due to the constant running to the loo in the middle of the night and Matty's need for a cuddle, milk, water etc etc etc... having to deal with a bird which has no sense of consideration for his immediate neighbour and trying too hard to outdo the rooster is just too much to bear.

At least if it is an insensitive neighbour who sings away on his karaoke system... we could have easily called the police in. What do we do with a bird which we are not even sure how it looks like and hops from tree to tree other than to curse and swear while lying in bed and hopefully drop back to get as much sleep as possible before Matty decides it is rise and shine for him.
